A Senior Security Officer, Mr.  Caesar Agana of the Security Services Department of the University of Energy and Natural Resources has presented a set of jersey worth £3,300 to the Sports Directorate in aid of sporting activities of the University.

Mr. Agana making the presentation of the items at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, said being a staff of the University he deemed it best to solicit for support for the University during his postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. He added that the set of jersey donated was a kind gesture made by the Southgate County Football Club in the United Kingdom after he deliberated with them to support the University. Mr. Agana stated that the Sports Directorate needed such help to make sports on campus attractive and lively.

The Head of the Sports Directorate, Mr. Ebenezer Kingsley Armoh assured that the items received would be put to good use adding that the Directorate was ever ready to liaise with Southgate County to form a Football Club with UENR. He mentioned that the Sports Directorate would soon institute football games such as the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup that will feature the various Unions in the University as well as the Registrar’s Cup which will involve institutions in the Bono Region affiliated to the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Harrison Dapaah on his part thanked Mr. Agana for his foresight and initiative. The Vice-Chancellor added that UENR needed more of such interventions to move forward as a University. Prof. Dapaah further said sporting activities have the backing of the University hence plans were underway to expand the sports field on campus to upgrade and enhance sports in the University.

Present at the presentation of the items were Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Opuni-Frimpong and the Registrar, Mr. Solomon Panford.
