General Entry Requirements {Diploma Programmes}

* Programmes leading to the award of diploma in the Sciences shall require electives from Chemistry, Physics and Elective Mathematics or Geography.

WASSCE Applicants

For admission into diploma programmes in the Sciences, applicants must possess grades A1-D7 in 3 core subjects namely English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science and 3 elective subjects relevant to the choice of programme.

SSSCE Applicants

For admission into diploma programmes in the Sciences, applicants must possess grades (A–E) in 3 core subjects, including English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science and 3 electives relevant to the choice of programme.

 

General Admission Requirements {Bachelor’s Degree Programmes}

* Programmes leading to the award of BSc Biological Sciences: Three (3)

Electives from Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Elective Mathematics

The University has four entry routes into Bachelor’s Programmes:

  • Entry by means of SSSCE/WASSCE (Entry at Level100)
  • Foreign student (Entry at Level 100)
  • Entry by means of the mature students’ examination (Entry at Level 100)
  • Entry by means of professional certificates and tertiary level diplomas depending on assessment of the diploma and performance at a selection interview (Entry at Level 100, 200 or 300 depending on the Class obtained and performance during selection interview).

WASSCE Applicants

To be admitted to any degree programme in the Sciences, applicants must possess grades (A1-C6) in 3 core subjects (i.e. English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science) and 3 elective subjects relevant to the choice of programme.

SSSCE Applicants

To be admitted to any degree programme in the Sciences, applicants must possess grades (A-D) in 3 core subjects (i.e. English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science) and 3 elective subjects relevant to the choice of programme.

Foreign Applicants

  • Required subjects for Sciences: English, Mathematics, Biology/Agriculture, Physics and Chemistry, Further Mathematics and one Arts subject.
  • Other Qualifications: Other qualifications acceptable for consideration for admission include International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, GCSE, American Grade13 examinations and other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE/SSSCE and the GCE (A Levels).

Mature Students

Applicants must:

  • be at least 25 years old by 1st September of the academic year of enrolment;
  • show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of birth date which is at least 5 years old at the time of application;
  • provide introductory letter from employer or show any other proof of employment;
  • pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by UENR (English Language, Mathematics and an Aptitude Test). In lieu of such examinations, the applicant must show proof of credit passes in English and Mathematics in SSSCE/WASSCE or any other nationally recognized standard High School level examinations.
  • in the case of applicants from outside WAEC Member countries, the results must be evaluated from the National Accreditation Board (NAB).

 

Professional and Post-Diploma Applicants

Candidates in this category must possess:

  • A Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalence in a relevant programme from a recognised institution
  • Must pass an interview organised by the Department.

The University has the right to revise the admission requirements at any time when it becomes necessary.
